Angst Gallery seeks work for “A Study in Blue,” an exhibit to run Aug. 2 through 24. This is an open call to artists for a group show dedicated to all things blue: azul, cobalt, sapphire, indigo, aquamarine, turquoise, teal, cyan and other cool hues. Artists can submit up to three pieces for a fee of $10 to $20 (on a sliding scale). The deadline to submit art is July 30 from 4 to 8 p.m. or July 31 from noon to 3 p.m. If neither of these times work, contact gallery director Leah Jackson at leah.angstgallery@gmail.com to make other arrangements. angstgallery.com

Vancouver Community Concert Band seeks brass, woodwind and percussion players, active and retired. All abilities welcome; no audition required. The volunteer community band, along with its polka band, Dixieland Jazz Band and chamber ensembles, performs regularly around the area. Vancouver Pops Orchestra seeks musicians who play orchestral instruments. The ensemble plays 20 to 25 45-minute assemblies each year in local grade schools. Rehearsals are 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesdays. Theater and performance

Pacific Stageworks seeks a diverse ensemble cast for the West Coast premiere of “Puffs, or: Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic.” Auditions will be from 2 to 6 p.m. July 13 and 14 at the Hampton Inn and Suites, 315 S.E. Olympia Drive, Vancouver. Auditions will be cold readings from the script; actors auditioning for characters with a distinct accent or voice (Professor McGonagall, Mr. Moody, Myrtle, etc.) should be prepared. Magenta Theater seeks actors to audition for “Death in High Heels” at 6:30 p.m. July 22 at 1108 Main St., a British play based on Christianna Brand’s debut crime novel. The play will run Oct. 4-19. There are 10 roles with understudies to be filled. Magenta Theater embraces nontraditional casting. English accents will be used where applicable. Rehearsals are Aug. 12 through Sept. 30, weekdays from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. unless noted otherwise. All roles are volunteer and without pay. Headshots are required to audition, and theater resumes are preferred. No appointments or monologues are necessary; auditions will be cold readings from the script.
