1. Lots of yachts

A rising tide floats all boats … at the Tidewater Cove Marina Boat Show, June 27 to 30, at Tidewater Cove Marina, 5811 S.E. Columbia Way, Vancouver. See new and used, big and small vessels from Sundance Yacht Sales, Royal Marine Yacht Sales, Vercoe Yacht Sales and Northwest Boat Center. Representatives from the Freedom Boat Club, Cooks Engine Company, Tipp Topp Marine, Biggs Insurance, Superior Design Top Shop and Columbia River Yacht Club will be on-site to answer questions. There will be live music on June 28 and 29, and on June 29, Fort Vancouver Sail & Power Squadron will offer free vessel safety checks. 360-977-2015 or www.tidewatercovemarina.com

2. Read ’em and keep

The Fort Vancouver Regional Library Foundation’s Bookfest ’19 Used Book Sale started June 20, but it’s still going strong for two more days: June 21 and 22 at District Headquarters, 1007 E. Mill Plain Blvd., Vancouver, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days. Thousands of books will be bargain-priced at $1 for most hardbacks and paperbacks of all genres, and 50 cents for mass-market adult fiction paperbacks. There will also be DVDs and CDs for $1 per disc. Free parking is available on-site; bring your own boxes and bags to carry your purchases. Proceeds benefit FVRL Foundation programs. 360-906-4700 or www.fvrlf.org

3. Take a walk on the historic side

Put on your walking shoes and join your friendly neighborhood historian for a one-hour walking tour back through time. The Clark County Historical Museum History Walking Tours happen at noon nearly every Friday and at 9 a.m. Saturday this summer, rain or shine. The locations change every week; the June 21 and 22 tour focuses on Vancouver’s lower Main Street. Tour groups are limited to about 25 people ages 13 and up, and the cost is $12 per person. Call 360-993-5679 or email events@cchmuseum.org; see the full schedule and buy tickets at cchmuseum.ejoinme.org/summer_walking_tours.

4. Super Cooper cruise

Explore the mystery of the D.B. Cooper skyjacking — still unsolved after 47 years — during this 90-minute pontoon boat adventure on the Columbia River, June 22 and 23. After launching from 11505 N.E. Harbor Yacht Drive, Portland, the boat travels to Tomahawk Island, where the skyjacking started on Thanksgiving eve 1971. Passengers will also visit the rarely seen spot on Tena Bar where $5,800 of Cooper’s ransom was found buried in 1980. On the way there, learn fascinating Cooper facts. On the way back, enjoy a Q&A session with your expert guide. Tours depart at 10 a.m., noon, 2 and 4 p.m. both days. All tickets are $35. 425-606-9600 or dbcooperboattour.com

5. Remembering Juneteenth

Juneteenth celebrates the end of slavery on June 19, 1865, two years after Lincoln’s 1863 Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth focuses on celebrating freedom, recognizing African American achievements and respect for all cultures. NAACP Vancouver will host a Juneteenth Celebration: Together We Rise, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 22 at Clark College’s Hanna and Foster Halls, 1933 Fort Vancouver Way, Vancouver –a free community event where everyone is welcome. The event features a diversity job fair, community awards and panel discussions, an art gallery, writer’s forum, live music, a kids’ corner, food and vendors. vancouvernaacp.weebly.com
