Elizabeth Hennessey, a senior at Seton Catholic High School, has won the English-Speaking Union’s Portland Branch Regional Shakespeare Competition for her performance of Sonnet 141 and Lady Anne’s monologue from Richard III, Act 4, Scene 1.

Hennessey will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to New York City to represent Seton Catholic College Preparatory High School and the Portland Branch of the ESU on the national level, at the Lincoln Center. The first-place award is a full scholarship to attend a prestigious summer Shakespeare program at the British Drama Academy in Oxford, England. The second-place award is a full scholarship to the American Shakespeare Center’s summer Theater Camp in Staunton, Va.
