Volunteer Opportunities

Angels Of God Pantry and Feeding Sites seeks volunteers to help in the food pantry and in the preparation and serving of meals; the latter requires a food-handler’s permit. Pantry shifts are Wednesday and Sunday mornings at Living Hope Church. Meal service is weekdays from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Memorial Lutheran Church on East 28th Street.

Battle Ground Health Care needs medical and dental volunteers to assist with a variety of tasks such as working with patients, providing office assistance, and helping with educational programs including nutrition and pain management. Shifts are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 1 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. At least a weekly commitment for six months is desired.

Clark County Parks and Lower Columbia Estuary Partnership is hosting a Curtin Springs Wildlife Habitat Planting from 9 a.m. until noon March 9. To sign up, contact Samantha at 503-226-1565, ext. 245.

Mount St. Helens Institute is recruiting for the Volcano Volunteers Program. Help with programs such as Volcano Outdoor School, KaBoom Volcanos in the classroom, Geo Girls and STEM High School Field Ecology. Conservation Corps volunteers help maintain mountain trails and habitat. Mountain Stewards engage with and educate the public, ensuring safety for climbers, hikers and visitors. Preseason training begins soon.

Vancouver Parks and Recreation Department and the Parks Foundation of Clark County and Vancouver’s Downtown Association are partnering to beautify Propstra Square in Esther Short Park, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 18. Projects include flower planting, weed pulling, sweeping, general cleanup and more. Bring gloves, kneeling pads, trowels or other hand tools, and dress for the weather with long pants and closed-toe shoes. Youth under 18 must bring a signed minor consent form and youth under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Lunch will be provided.

Vancouver Watershed Alliance is hosting a tree planting at Burnt Bridge Creek from 8:45 a.m. to noon on March 23. Volunteers should dress in outdoor work clothes with sturdy shoes and meet at 1806 N.E. 41st Circle.
