A five-car collision Monday in east Vancouver led to four people being taken to the hospital.

Witnesses said a white man in his early 50s appeared to be driving erratically in a silver Dodge pickup just after 5 p.m. on northbound Southeast 164th Avenue near Southeast Tech Center Drive, Vancouver Police Sgt. David Krebs said. He collided into a white station wagon that was slowing down before a stop light south of Mill Plain Boulevard, creating a chain reaction, Krebs said.

Four people, including the driver of the pickup, were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, Krebs said.

The section of the road where the crash occured was closed more than 30 minutes during the cleanup and investigation. While charges had not been filed yet Monday evening, the driver of the pickup is suspected of being under the influence of intoxicants at the time of the crash, Krebs said.
