A Vancouver man who allegedly possessed more than 1,000 images of child pornography made his first court appearance Tuesday.

George R. Miller, 33, appeared in front of Clark County Superior Court Judge Scott Collier on suspicion of four counts of first-degree possession of depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct. He appeared in custody but was granted supervised release, according to court records.

Miller used the online search engine Bing on Nov. 9 to view an image of a naked boy, according to an affidavit of probable cause. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children tipped off the Vancouver Police Department’s Digital Evidence Cybercrime Unit about the incident based on information submitted by Microsoft, which owns Bing, the affidavit said.

After a search warrant was granted Feb. 14, Miller was identified as the person who viewed the image, leading to his home being searched, according to the affidavit. In an interview Monday with police, Miller admitted to viewing child pornography, which he considered to be children younger than 12 years old, on a daily basis, the affidavit said.

A forensic analysis found Miller to be in possession of over a thousand images of suspected child pornography, which included toddlers and infants, the affidavit said.

Miller was arrested Monday and booked at the Clark County Jail. His next court appearance is slated for March 22.
