Vancouver Plaza Walmart to close April 19

When it opened in July 2013, the Walmart Neighborhood Market at 7809 N.E. Vancouver Plaza Drive joined a growing segment for the retailing giant.

It was one of 79 Neighborhood Markets that Bentonville, Ark.-based Walmart Inc. opened that year in the U.S. That was followed in 2014 by another 122 Neighborhood Markets and 235 more the following year.

Clark Public Utility customers to get credit on April bill

Clark Public Utilities customers will see a credit on their April bill after the utility board approved a $10 million credit from 2018 surplus funds.

Eligible customers will get a credit equal to about 27 percent of their average January and February power consumption, so the credit amount will vary depending on the customer.

Woman pleads guilty in viral bridge-shoving incident

Tay’Lor Smith, who’s accused of pushing Jordan Holgerson of Kalama off the bridge at Moulton Falls Regional Park in August, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor reckless endangerment Monday morning in Clark County District Court. The prosecution is recommending a sentence with no jail time.

Smith, 19, will be sentenced March 27. The gross misdemeanor carries a maximum penalty of up to a year in jail and/or a $5,000 fine.

Two teens face allegations in Gaiser Middle School disturbance

Two teenagers appeared Monday in Clark County Juvenile Court to face allegations stemming from their refusal to leave Gaiser Middle School on Friday night at the direction of law enforcement officers.

A 13-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of failure to disperse, third-degree assault, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. A probable cause affidavit alleges the boy pushed and punched a school security officer.

Vancouver tattoo artist restores areolas for breast cancer patients

If Lina Anderson has done her job well, you won’t quite be able to notice.

The 30-year-old Vancouver resident is a tattoo artist at Studio Meraki in Portland, where one of her specialties is tattoo restoration for breast cancer patients. For a little more than a year, breast cancer patients have been visiting Anderson to get tattoos that help them feel closer to whole again after cancer and treatment has altered their bodies
