Clark County middle and high school students are invited to join Prevention is a Party, a drug- and alcohol-free celebration for youth.

The party will be held from 8 to 10:30 p.m. April 19 at the Firstenburg Community Center, 700 N.E. 136th Ave., Vancouver, and includes food, swimming, basketball, a DJ, video games, table games, giveaways and prizes. Youth must bring locks for lockers.

Peer educators from Clark County’s Strong Teens Against Substances, Hazards and Abuse program are hosting the event in partnership with Firstenburg’s Teen Late Night program.

Strong Teens Against Substances, Hazards and Abuse peer educators are Clark County youth between the ages of 12 and 19, who work to prevent substance abuse among peers in the community.

“Prevention research shows youth are less likely to use substances if they are affiliated with friends who provide positive peer support, have good coping skills, have access to healthy leisure activities and are in a community that is against substance use,” an event press release reads.
