Firefighters rescued a teenage boy early Thursday morning who got stuck 35 feet off the ground on a cliff near the boundary of Vancouver’s Fisher’s Creek neighborhood.

Fire crews were dispatched around 3 a.m. to 4297 S.E. 192nd Ave., in east Vancouver. An engine arrived and found an uninjured boy on the cliff face, according to a Vancouver Fire Department news release.

The teenager was unwilling to climb down on his own, so a technical rescue team was deployed using resources from the fire department and Clark County Fire District 6. When the team arrived, it shined light on the cliff and sent a rescuer over its edge to reach the stranded boy, according to the fire department.

“The teen was placed in a rescue harness and lowered to the ground with a rescuer,” the fire department said.
