WASHOUGAL — One local artist’s painting featuring downtown Washougal was selected as the winning design to promote this year’s Washougal Arts Festival. Local muralist Travis London’s watercolor painting was chosen by the Washougal Arts and Culture Alliance for the poster, which depicts several landmarks such as the Seaman statue, Reflection Plaza, Pendleton Woolen Mill and the pedestrian tunnel. London has been a Washougal resident for 35 years and teaches art and Spanish at Anderson and Harney elementary schools in Vancouver. He has created 10 to 20 murals over the years in Washougal and Camas, and is working on one at 1911 Main St. A limited number of signed copies of the poster will be for sale for $20 at the festival, to be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 10. According to a news release, “Proceeds from the event will bring more public art to Washougal.”
