A fire Tuesday afternoon destroyed a one-story house east of Woodland.

Fire personnel were dispatched at 3:32 p.m. to 40815 N.E. Goodnight Road. While the fire was mostly out just before 5 p.m., firefighters were expected to remain on scene for several more hours, said Gordon Brooks, assistant chief of Clark County Fire District 10.

The roughly 1,900-square-foot, ranch-style house and its contents were considered a total loss, Brooks said. No injuries were reported.

Earlier, a man inside the house — the only occupant at the time — heard a loud explosion before noticing the kitchen was fully engulfed in flames. Several fire agencies responded to the remote location, which did not allow them to access the home in time to save it, Brooks said.

The Clark County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
