Postseason roundup: Boys Soccer and Baseball

Boys soccer

STADIUM 1, EVERGREEN 0 — Stadium scored the only goal of the match in the first half to send Evergreen into a loser-out match against rival Mountain View on Thursday.

“We had chances to tie the game and the boys played very hard,” Evergreen coach Kennan Burris said. “Stadium was a great opponent and very good.”

WILSON 2, PRAIRIE 1 (SO) — The Falcons’ Mark Mischuk tied the game in the 75th minute on a misplayed ball by the Wilson goalkeeper but the Rams punched their state ticket with a 7-6 shootout victory in the 3A bi-district playoff game at Mount Tahoma. Nine players on each team kicked in the shootout.

Gerrit Cochell was applauded for his play in the Prairie net. He made two saves.

Prairie will play a loser-out game against Bethel on Thursday.

WOODLAND 3, TUMWATER 2 — Aidan Thrall, Gaige Pilot and Jesse Thrall scored first-half goals for the Beavers in the 2A district semifinal game in Tumwater. Treyson Thrall made three saves as the Beavers fended off a second-half charge from the T-Birds.

Woodland will play Columbia River on Thursday at Columbia River High School for the district championship.

RIDGEFIELD 1, W.F. WEST 0 — Israel Hernandez scored on an assist from Ben Poppert and the Spudders stayed alive in the 2A district tournament. Joe Lindbo made five saves. The Spudders play the second of three straight loser-out games against Evergreen Conference’s No. 1-seeded Tumwater on Thursday.

Baseball

SKYVIEW 6, BELLARMINE PREP 2 — The Storm used a five-run sixth inning to win a loser-out game in the 4A bi-district tournament in Puyallup.

Noah Guyette’s two-run double and Tyler Howard’s two-run single keyed the late outburst,

The No. 2 seed from the GSHL, Skyview (16-5) plays another loser-out game Wednesday against Kennedy Catholic or Puyallup.

RIDGEFIELD 7, ROCHESTER 3 — Spencer Andersen’s bases-loaded triple keyed a five-run sixth inning as the Spudders won a first-round game in the 2A district tournament.

Ridgefield (14-6) will face W.F. West in a winner-to-state semifinal game Wednesday in Centralia.

W.F. WEST 10, WOODLAND 0 — The Beavers were two-hit in the 2A district tournament opener in Chehalis. Reid Hope and Brady Burns got the Woodland hits. The Beavers play a loser-out game with Rochester Wednesday at W.F. West.

KING’S WAY CHRISTIAN 16, FORKS 9 — The Knights stayed alive at the 1A district tournament, pounding out 18 hits to eliminate Forks.

Bryce Dodge went 3 for 4 with a triple and four RBI for King’s Way (9-12), which must win two more games to reach state.

MONTESANO 8, LA CENTER 0 — The Wildcats committed four errors in a 1A district loss in Hoquiam. Michael Goode was 2 for 3 at the plate. The Wildcats play a loser-out game against King’s Way Christian on Friday.

Softball

WOODLAND 1, PRAIRIE 0 — Olivia Grey struck out 18 batters and allowed just one hit in a complete-game shutout as Woodland beat Prairie in a nonleague game. She now has 210 strikeouts in 83 innings this season.
