Letter: Promote culture of life

By Marcus Lind, Camas

I was saddened and dismayed to read a letter to the editor “Abortion bill is mislabeled,” (Our Readers’ Views, May 7, The Columbian), promoting the culture of death in my hometown newspaper. Protecting a human baby after she or he is born alive is not “dangerous” nor “extreme.” Allowing a baby to die by withholding appropriate medical care after she or he is born alive is infanticide.

Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Battle Ground, does represent my values and I am a constituent in Southwest Washington. I thank her for her work in promoting a culture of life and for supporting S. 311 Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. Let us protect the most vulnerable lives among us, the unborn and now it seems the just-born.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
