Letter: Get facts about Ketchikan

By Bruce Stanton, Washougal

In response to “Dive team probes icy Alaska waters for missing passengers” (May 14, The Associated Press): I was born in Ketchikan, Alaska, and lived there until 1996. The water in George Inlet is not icy! Cold, yes. But not icy. It is rare for George Inlet to have ice even in the coldest winter. It doesn’t have ice in the middle of May. This is hype from Rachel D’Oro who lives in Anchorage, 762 miles from Ketchikan. Seattle is closer to Ketchikan.

Ketchikan has lots of reporters. It has local radio, TV, and a daily newspaper, The Ketchikan Daily News. Get your news about Ketchikan from them. It will be a lot more accurate.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
