Letter: Minnehaha traffic plan is thoughtless

What are the road engineers of this county thinking? Anyone who has driven around Minnehaha on Highway 99 over the past year has been subjected to some absolutely ridiculous traffic revisions. First, out of nowhere they installed a cement barrier down the middle of the street from Highway 99 down to 10th Avenue, cutting off all access to the businesses and apartments. Then they removed that at our expense and put the lined turn lane back.

Now they have come along and put in two concrete turns: one going eastbound and only turning into one parking lot, blocking access to the other. The second turns from westbound into Globe/Ace’s parking lot.

A person wanting to reach a business on the north side when traveling east must make a U-turn to get there. When leaving one of these businesses you need to turn into the parking lot and drive to the west entrance to technically make a very long U-turn to go east. To what ends will they go to block us from getting where we need to be?
