Portland Community College named Vigor Industrial as 2019 Partner of the Year-Large Business category at its Employer Partnership Awards celebration this week at Oregon Museum of Science and Industry.

Vigor Industrial is the leading provider of shipbuilding, complex fabrication and ship repair and conversion in the Pacific Northwest, operating in six primary locations with 2,300 employees in Oregon, Washington and Alaska. Plans are underway for Vigor to open an aluminum ship fabrication plant in Vancouver.

As a longstanding PCC partner, Vigor supports the college’s Career Pathways program and apprenticeship training at PCC’s Swan Island Trades Center, specifically in maritime welding, and also serves as an active advisory committee member for career technical education.

PCC gave its 2019 Partner of the Year-Small Business category award to Northwest Compounders, a Portland pharmaceutical company, and its Government/Non-Profit award to Centro Cultural, Oregon’s oldest Latino nonprofit.
