One person was critically injured and three others suffered minor injuries in a four-vehicle crash Friday evening in Hazel Dell, according to emergency radio traffic monitored at The Columbian.

Clark County sheriff’s deputies and rescue units were dispatched at 7:36 p.m. to Northeast Highway 99 and Northeast 99th Street for a crash involving multiple vehicles.

The driver of one of the vehicles suffered a medical emergency and ran a red light, colliding with the other vehicles, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

First responders said two occupants in a black sedan were trapped and required extrication, according to the scanner.

Occupants in three of the four vehicles were taken to local hospitals for serious but not life-threatening injuries, the news release said.

The sheriff’s office’s traffic unit is investigating.

The intersection was blocked during the response and after as the wreckage was cleared.
