Lincoln — A spring tea hosted by Assistance League Southwest Washington brought in more than $2,500 to help children living in poverty. The funds will be used for philanthropic programs such as scholarships, clothing children in foster care and clothes and supplies as requested by schools for specific students. About 100 people attended the May 5 event at First Presbyterian Church, where they shopped for plants and enjoyed a meal catered by Tasting Tea and More. Assistance League is an all-volunteer organization that aims to strengthen the community through programs that address unmet needs of local children and families.
