The average salary of American CEOs is $15.6 million. I would suggest that America’s wealthy have become wealthier directly from the labor of working America.
The top 0.1 percent of American households hold almost the same amount of wealth as the bottom 90 percent. I do not need to hear the excuse that taxing the wealthy their “fair share” is stealing from the rich.
Before Reagan, the richest among us paid a 70 percent marginal tax rate and CEOs took home about 30 times what their workers did. Reagan cut taxes on the richest among us. Now CEOs make hundreds of times more than their workers. Now there are millions of “working poor” Americans. That is obscene.
