1A Trico League football: Columbia-White Salmon 50, Stevenson 7

Led by a stalwart defense, the host Bruins scored the game’s first 50 points to win the annual Gorge Bowl rivalry game against Stevenson.

Columbia led 37-0 at halftime and 50-0 after three quarters to cruise to victory, holding the visiting Bulldogs to minus-7 yards rushing.

Columbia rushed for 335 yards and finished with a 359-74 total yards advantage over Stevenson.

Zavier Smith led the Bruins with two interceptions on defense and added a 51 yard touchdown run in the second quarter to give Columbia a 30-0 lead.

Smith was also 6 for 7 on extra point kicks, and had 114 total yards. Bowen Durkee added 114 yards rushing, including a 9 yard touchdown run.

Columbia (4-5, 2-3) finishes their season fourth in the 1A Trico League

Stevenson’s Garret Mathany connected on a 5 yard pass to Georgi Scheratski with 17 seconds left in the game to avoid the shutout. Stevenson ends their season 2-7 overall, 1-4 league.
