PARKLAND — Authorities say a knife-wielding man was shot and killed by deputies in Parkland, Washington.

Pierce County Sheriff’s spokesman says officers were called at 6:21 p.m. Sunday to reports of an intoxicated man armed with a knife.

KOMO reports the man was threatening to kill his family members at what is believed to be his home, and also threatened to kill police if they came to the house.

When officers arrived at the home, Troyer said they were confronted by the armed suspect on the porch. Deputies opened fire and struck the 56-year-old man.

Tacoma police detectives are investigating the deputy-involved shooting.
