Letter: Add to, don’t fix, bridges

By Jennifer McDonald, Vancouver
Published: November 6, 2019, 6:00am

Traffic in Vancouver was a disaster on Thursday, Oct. 24 due to an accident in Oregon several miles south of the Interstate 205 bridge. This could not be blamed on the age of the Interstate 5 Bridge across the Columbia River and would not have been solved by a new I-5 bridge. It definitely would have been helped by a third bridge, however. I remain very discouraged that the subject of a third bridge is never mentioned in official contexts regarding the Columbia Crossing and is dismissed almost as if ridiculous by The Columbian.

If only David Madore’s promise of a third bridge out at 192nd Avenue could have really happened within his time line.
