Letter: Car tab rollback shortsighted

By Kenneth French, Vancouver

I am saddened to see the shortsightedness of the people of Washington. Personally, I would rather pay a $105 license fee to renew my tabs and have the money to repair our roads than have to have the alignment of my vehicles corrected every several months because of some of the mammoth potholes created by lack of resources.

Let’s just take, for instance, Evergreen Boulevard from Blanford Drive, east to Andresen Road. This section of road is one of C-Tran’s main routes, and there has been a huge increase in apartments in this area adding to the travel on this stretch of roadway. One only has to drive this road once to see that it is literally separating in places and is in dire need of repair.

I believe it would have been much wiser to freeze current fees for a five-year period and force our elected officials to do what we elected to do (spend our tax dollars more wisely).
