LeMasters named Clark College athletic director

Clark College named Laura LeMasters as its new athletic director, the school announced Tuesday.

LeMasters has served as the college’s interim athletic director since June, replacing Chris Jacob. She’s been at Clark since 2016 as its assistant athletic director.

LeMasters has worked at Occidental College, Central Wyoming College and Lewis & Clark College before Clark.

“I hope to continue to build the level of commitment to academic and athletic excellence,” LeMasters said in a news release, “as well as create a student experience for athletes, coaches, staff and the entire student body that will enhance the pride of Penguin Nation.”

WOMEN’S SOCCER

Final overall record: 11-4-1

Last week: Season ended with a 1-0 loss to Tacoma in NWAC quarterfinals.

Notable: The Penguins freshman midfielder Kiara Kallie (Washougal HS) was named South Region MVP. … She will be joined on the South-West Region All-Star squad by sophomore forward Hannah Eakins (Washougal), freshman forward Maddie Goss (Union), sophomore midfielder Kayla Sills (Hockinson), sophmore defender Allyson Findlay (Hockinson), freshman defender Brin Wolvert (Union) and sophomore goalkeeper Isabelle Bauer (Evergreen) … Head coach Jeff Castagnola was named South Region coach of the year. … The NWAC women’s all-star soccer match is scheduled for noon Saturday at Starfire Stadium in Tukwila.

MEN’S SOCCER

Final overall record: 5-5-2

Notable: Penguins named to the South-West Region all-star squad were sophomore midfielder Kleon Keang (Union), and sophomore defender Benji Espinosa (Prairie). … The NWAC men’s all-star soccer match is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Starfire Stadium in Tukwila.

VOLLEYBALL

Record: 13-21 overall, 3-13 NWAC South (ninth place)

Last week: lost at Chemeketa 3-1 (25-21, 21-25, 20-25, 21-25); lost to Mt. Hood 3-1 (21-25, 26-24, 17-25, 22-25)

Notable: Chelsea Petrino, Payton Walker and Laurel Davidson each had 12 kills vs. Chemeketa. Davidson also had 14 digs and two aces, and Marina Breuner had 35 assists.

CROSS COUNTRY

Next meet: NWAC Championships are Monday at Saint Martin’s University in Lacey.

BASKETBALL

MEN: Clark tips off the season at the Umpqua Tournament on Friday at Roseburg, Ore. The Penguins play Simpson JV of Redding, Calif., on Friday, then play Blue Mountain on Saturday and finish with Green River on Sunday.

WOMEN: Clark opens at Pacific in Forest Grove, Ore., on Saturday.
