Letter: Herrera Beutler is not listening

The Columbian’s coverage of Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler’s time listening to the local war veterans’ stories was commendable (“Veterans share their stories,” The Columbian, Nov. 9). They need to be heard.

But why does this feel like an election publicity stunt? I wish that she had as much respect for her district constituents. Is she not concerned about President Trump’s diversion of veteran charity funds back into his election expenses? She needs to publicly listen to our concerns about the state of our country. I’m sorry, but telephone conference calls do not do justice to those of us who might want to ask her opinion about controversial topics. How about some public open table discussions, Jaime?
