CDM Long Term Care Services seeks activities assistants to run small groups of activities for clients with dementia and TBI. Activities might include bingo, art, trivia, dice, etc. Volunteers who enjoy karaoke and/or can play an instrument are also needed to help entertain clients during the week. Research shows that while dementia causes progressive memory loss and impairment, memory for music remains.

Clark County Government Restorative Community Service is looking for mentors to assist youth in completing their obligation to make things right with the community by working on projects with different nonprofit organizations in Clark County. Mentors are needed to assist with various projects and help youth understand the value of the work they are doing. Shifts are Saturdays and approximately four hours. A six-month commitment is required.

Reach Community Development seeks volunteers to help with the Kid’s Club monthly dinners, youth and adult activities including homework help, arts and crafts, and games. Reach’s Food Pantry at the Isabella Court location is in need of volunteers to greet residents and offer assistance, sort through donated items, place orders and pick up items from the Clark County Food Bank, and stock/organize the pantry.

Shared Hope International is in search of elves to help thank their amazing supporters for their help in ending domestic minor sex trafficking. If you’re a cheery volunteer who likes to listen to Christmas music, sip cocoa, eat snacks and make phone calls of appreciation, then this volunteer activity is just for you. Days and shifts are available for this activity through the end of December.

Walk & Knock is the nation’s largest one-day community food drive. Volunteers are needed on the following dates: Nov. 23, bag folding; Nov. 30, bag distribution; and Dec. 7, drive day.

Other opportunities

Volunteers are still needed to assist with serving food at a public Thanksgiving dinner at the Vancouver United Church of Christ on Nov. 28 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Volunteer drivers are also needed to deliver food to people unable to attend the event. Food donations of ham and turkey, green bean casserole and pie with whipped cream are also accepted. Shifts are flexible. Contact Dianna Bronkhorst at 360-980-7629 for more information.

The Port of Camas-Washougal with the Red Cross is hosting a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 19 at 24 South A Street, Washougal. Call 1-800-733-2767 or visit redcrossblood.org with the sponsor code portofcw to schedule an appointment.
