Shumway — Kate Bias won the title of American Rabbit Breeders Association Queen at a national convention held in Reno, Nev., where rabbit breeders from across the country competed. There were more than 300 youth competing in the royalty competition, the educational program of the association. It consists of an application, interview and three knowledge tests about rabbit diseases, breeds and judging. This was Bias’ first time placing in the queen competition. She also won first place in the management competition and second place in individual breed ID. Bias has been involved in 4H since 2011 showing rabbits. She is a senior at Vancouver School of Arts and Academics, and plans on majoring in education in college in hopes of becoming a high school guidance counselor.
