ALBANY, Ore. — An elementary school in Albany, Ore., has been closed due to an apparent stomach virus that has struck students, teachers and staff.

KOIN reports the decision to close Periwinkle Elementary School on Monday was made after the school district consulted with the Linn County Health Department.

Every school building in the district was disinfected over the weekend in an effort to keep the illness from spreading.
