WASHOUGAL — Students had the opportunity to learn about careers in hospitality, tourism, human services, agriculture, food and natural resources at Washougal High School’s second Pathways Conference on Nov. 7. Keynote speaker was Matthieu Grant, a Washougal High School graduate who spoke about opportunities and skills needed to work for Disney. Other session speakers included Beth Nelson, a United Airlines flight attendant; Mychal Dynes of Little Conejo restaurant; Jayodin J. Mosher, a sign language interpreter; and several others. After listening to the speakers, students loaded onto buses to visit either ilani or Skamania Lodge. At ilani, human resources representatives let students know about their career opportunities and gave a tour. “We’re really trying to provide students with exposure to a professional conference setting while giving them an ‘up close and personal’ learning experience from local business folks about career pathways that are of interest to them,” Margaret Rice, Washougal School District career and technical education director, said in a news release.
