PeaceHealth has announced a round of support staff layoffs. It’s the second round of layoffs that the Washington-based health care company has announced in the past three months.

Approximately 50 positions have been eliminated and approximately 15 new positions created across multiple PeaceHealth locations, the company wrote in a statement.

Impacted workers will have the opportunity to apply for new or open positions. The company also said it would offer transitional support for those who are losing their jobs.

“With our patients at the center of every decision we make, PeaceHealth is continuously examining the most effective ways to meet the unique needs of our communities now and well into the future,” the company wrote. “By evolving and streamlining our support services structure, we are focused on expanding our services and partnerships to create a deeper presence in our communities, including offering convenient, high-quality, on-demand services.”

PeaceHealth spokesman Jeremy Rush declined to elaborate about which locations were affected. He characterized the eliminated positions as “all centralized support service roles.”

PeaceHealth is headquartered in Vancouver and operates hospitals, clinics and other facilities in Washington, Oregon and Alaska, including PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center.

The company currently has approximately 16,000 employees, according to Rush, more than 4,000 of whom work at PeaceHealth Southwest and other Clark County locations.

The previous round of layoffs was announced in July and also affected approximately 50 employees. The employees in that round of cuts were all from the company’s Technology Solutions Partners division. The company said that round of layoffs was part of a move to centralize some of its tech support services to a shared services center in Vancouver.
