Letter: Support Jain for school board

By Charlotte A. Akin, former ESD teacher and program manager, Battle Ground
Published: October 12, 2019, 6:00am

Divya Jain started the Passport Club in her daughter’s classroom at Illahee Elementary hoping to make “citizens of the world.” The club soon spread throughout the school — then to other schools in the district.

Divya recruited and trained leaders in these schools, working with teachers and parents, even beyond the elementary years of her own children. She was quiet, respectful and effective. The result was the making of thousands of young citizens of the world.

Divya is running for Evergreen school district board, Position 4. She would be an exceptional school board member because she is such an exceptional person.
