Vancouver fire crews responded to a crash on SR-500 Friday night. Two engines and an ambulance were dispatched at 11:54 p.m.

A pickup truck traveling eastbound drove off the highway near the Andresen Road interchange. The vehicle crashed into a fence and ended up in a ditch, according to Vancouver Fire Department spokesman Joe Spatz.

The driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle. He had to be extracted from the vehicle using tools, and was taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center.
