Clark athletics report: Penguins women’s soccer streak continues

WOMEN’S SOCCER

Record: 8-3-1 overall, 8-0-1 NWAC South (first place)

Last week: defeated Lane 5-1; defeated Portland 2-0

This week: Rogue vs. Clark, 2 p.m. Wednesday at Harmony Sports Complex (admission is free); Clark at Southwestern Oregon, 2 p.m.

Notable: The NWAC fifth-ranked Penguins can clinch a fourth straight NWAC South title with a win against Rogue. The Penguins have won 60 consecutive NWAC South matches. … Six different players scored goals in the two games last week. Kayla Sills (Hockinson HS) had two against Lane. Kiara Kallie (Washougal HS) had one for a team-high eighth of the season.

MEN’S SOCCER

Record: 4-3-2 overall, 2-3-2 NWAC South (fourth place)

Last week: lost at Chemeketa 2-0; beat Portland 2-1

This week: Rogue vs. Clark, 4 p.m. Wednesday at Harmony Sports Complex (admission is free); Clark at Lane, 2 p.m.

Notable: Julian Rodriguez (Camas HS) scored the go-ahead goal with an assist from Jay Bali (Union HS) in the 78th minute as the Penguins beat Portland for their first win in four matches. The first goal of the game by Valentin Gudz (Skyview HS) with an assist from Nino Feroglia (Skyview) also ended a three-game scoreless skid.

VOLLEYBALL

Record: 10-16 overall, 1-8 NWAC South (ninth place)

Last week: lost to Lane 3-1 (26-24, 11-25, 19-25, 18-25), lost at Linn-Benton 3-0 (21-25, 12-25, 13-25)

This week: Southwestern Oregon at Clark, 6:30 p.m. Friday (Dig Pink Night); Rogue at Clark, 2 p.m. Saturday.

Next: Clark at Lewis & Clark Invitational, Oct. 19.
