Stevenson’s Andrew Garcia and Garrett Mathany caught touchdowns passes of 30 and 25 from Nick Nissen, but it wasn’t enough as the host Bulldogs dropped their 2019 opener to the visitors from Salem, Ore.

Javian McCrae’s 147 rushing yards led a 310-yard rushing attack by the Cavaliers, who scored late in the first half on a Logan Day five yard run, to give Blanchet a 7-0 lead at halftime.

Stevenson, down 14-0 midway through the third quarter, answered when Nissen found Garcia for a 30-yard score to bring the game within one touchdown.

However, Blanchet’s ground game would put the game out of reach in the fourth quarter, with a 12-play, 99-yard drive, capped off by Caden Duch’s 34-yard touchdown run.

Stevenson would score on Mathany’s catch with nine seconds left in the game.
