When bills come due each month do we give money away, borrow money to replace it, make payments and pay interest on that money so we can then pay our bills while having enough extra to double pay everything back? Such is the logic displayed by Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Battle Ground, while supporting the GOP tax cut bill. The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office has now warned Congress of dire consequences in describing the financial situation as “unsustainable,” especially as Americans age. This implies damage to Social Security and Medicare. The 3rd District deserves better. With Herrera Beutler we’re being ineptly short-changed.
