Brooke Van Sickle’s move appears to be paying off.

The redshirt junior from Battle Ground has played a key role in the University of Hawaii volleyball team’s 9-0 start.

The outside hitter/libero had a combined 33 kills and 27 digs as the Warriors swept three matches at the Outrigger Hotels Challenge in Honolulu.

Van Sickle was named to the all-tournament team as Hawaii beat beat West Virginia, Utah Valley and UCLA.

A two-time first-team all-state player at Battle Ground, Van Sickle transferred to Hawaii from Oregon. In Eugene, she appeared in 67 matches, making 30 starts over three seasons. She missed most of her sophomore year with a knee injury.

Van Sickle was born in Hawaii, where her parents met before moving to Clark County.

Volleyball

Evi Wilson, Montana State — The senior from Columbia River had a team-high 15 kills and nine digs in a four-set win over Cal State Bakersfield on Friday. Wilson has 88 kills over eight matches for the Bobcats (4-4).

Women’s Soccer

Lauren Rood, Stanford — The senior from Camas has allowed just two goals in four starts this season for the Cardinal (6-1).

Taryn Ries, Portland — The junior from Ridgefield scored her second goal of the season in a 3-2 overtime loss to Seattle University on Sunday. Ries, a forward, also has three assists through six games.

Ellie Walker, Portland — The junior from Columbia River notched her second assist of the season in a 2-2 draw against Oregon on Friday. The defender has started five of six games for the Pilots this season.

Men’s Golf

Spencer Tibbits, Oregon State — The junior from Fort Vancovuer won the rain-shortened Husky Invitational near Seattle, shooting 6-under for 36 holes. He became the first Beaver to win a tournament since 2016.

Women’s Golf

Hailey Oster, Montana State — The sophomore from Camas had a hole-in-one on the par 3, 17th hole from 140 yards during the second round of the Battle at Old Works tournament in Anaconda, Mont. That helped her card a 1-under-par 71, which was a career low.

Men’s Soccer

Josh Balsiger, Saint Mary’s (Minn.) — The senior from Seton Catholic has three goals in four matches for the Cardinals, which are 2-2.

Cross Country
