‘Bernadette’ author Maria Semple to headline Nov. 6 library event

Maria Semple, author of the bestselling “Where’d You Go, Bernadette,” will be the featured speaker at the Fort Vancouver Regional Library Foundation’s annual fundraising event Nov. 6.

The Authors & Illustrators Dinner will be from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Hilton Vancouver Washington, 301 W. Sixth St.

Semple’s novels include “This One is Mine” (which was a finalist for the 2010 Pacific Northwest Booksellers Association Award), “Where’d You Go, Bernadette” (which won the American Library Association’s Alex Award and was the basis for the recent major motion picture), and “Today Will Be Different.” Semple has been a staff writer for popular television shows, including “Saturday Night Live,” “Mad About You,” “Ellen,” “Beverly Hills 90210,” “Arrested Development” and “Suddenly Susan.”

Tickets to the dinner and silent auction are $90 each. There also are a limited number of tickets available for a private reception with Semple for $25 per person. Tickets can be purchased through the foundation’s website, fvrlfoundation.org. For more information, call 360-906-4700.
