2A GSHL football: Ridgefield 20, Mark Morris 13

Ridgefield came away with its first 2A Greater St. Helens League win behind a strong defensive showing.

Leading the way his was the powerful running of senior Hunter Abrams, who had 178 yards and two touchdowns on 28 carries.

Mark Morris had a more balanced offense, but was unable to take advantage of the breaks they got and convert on their opportunities.

Ridgefield receiver Spenser Harmon caught a pass that went through a teammate’s hands late in the second half. This 45 yard play was crucial in extending the Spudders’ first scoring drive. Ryan Jenkins caught a 15-yard TD pass, which tied the game 7-7 before halftime.

With Ridgefield leading 14-13, Abrams’ scored his second touchdown, a seven yard run, in the fourth quarter.

Mark Morris’ defensive performance was highlighted by senior Timur Berishev who had two interceptions in the first half.
