Letter: A con man in the White House

I’m old enough that I can remember every president from Eisenhower onward to today. I remember the fear that was generated by the assassinations of JFK, RFK and Martin Luther King Jr.

I remember the chaos and division of the Vietnam war and Lyndon Johnson’s lies about the war. I remember more lies about Vietnam from Nixon and the fracturing of the nation over his criminal spying on the Democrats. Nixon should have died in jail.

I lived through the incompetence of Jimmy Carter, Gerald Ford and George W. Bush. I remember the phony trickle-down economics of Ronald Reagan. I remember the deviousness of Bill Clinton.

None of that compares to the chaos, incompetence, corruption and lies of Donald Trump, the worst president in my lifetime, bar none. I never dreamed I’d live to see a con man in the White House.
