PORTLAND — A Gresham man accused of threatening to kill a woman and damaging her property based on her skin color has been charged with several counts of a bias crime and criminal mischief.

The Oregonian/OregonLive reports 31-year-old Sead Selimovich is suspected of yelling racial slurs at his neighbor in August, damaging her home and tampering with her vehicle on multiple occasions.

His neighbor, who is black, told investigators that the racial slurs were intertwined with death threats. She says a 9-year-old boy was also there in one instance when she says Selimovich began yelling. The neighbor said Selimovich scared the child, and that she feared for her life and thought Selimovich would try to hurt or kill her because of her skin color.

According to a probable cause affidavit, the neighbor reported that Selimovich had been harassing her for more than a year.

It wasn’t immediately known if Selimovich has a lawyer.
