In a new policy enacted amid the coronavirus pandemic, Costco will begin limiting the number of shoppers allowed into its stores with each membership card.

Beginning Friday, the warehouse chain will allow no more than two people per membership card into its stores. The change is one of many implemented by Costco and other retailers during the virus outbreak

“This temporary change is for your safety and the safety of our employees and other members, and to further assist with our social distancing efforts,” Costco said on its website.

The warehouse chain previously implemented other changes, including new weekday closing hours and special hours for members 60 and older.

Food court menus have also been scaled back, food samples have been eliminated and purchase amounts for in-demand products have been set.

More information about Costco policies can be found on the chain’s website.
