Vancouver City Manager Eric Holmes issued a clarification Wednesday on a previous emergency order regarding landlords using personal protective equipment when inside a tenant’s home.

Landlords or property managers are required to wear equipment, including a nonmedical grade face mask that covers the nose and mouth, gloves and shoe coverings, when inside a renter’s dwelling. They are also required to adhere to the 6-foot social distancing rule recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Clark County Department of Public Health.

The emergency order does not expand a landlord’s rights to enter their rental property, nor allow inspection activities that are otherwise prohibited by the law.
