Convicted felon on the run after cutting ankle tracker in Richland, Kennewick police say

KENNEWICK — A convicted felon slipped out of his GPS tracker during a trip to Richland and is on the run, police said.

Roger Dwayne Thompson was recently released from a two-year prison sentence for theft charges, and he moved into a Kennewick home, Kennewick police said.

During his time behind bars, he threatened to shoot Department of Corrections employees, police officers and himself when he was released.

He was required to wear an ankle monitor as part of the terms of his release. He at an appointment near the intersection of Stevens Drive and Knight Street in Richland on Thursday when he cut the tracker off and escaped.

“Thompson is considered a threat to our community and should be considered armed and dangerous,” police said.

Thompson is 5-foot-10, 205 pounds and has brown hair and brown eyes. He has tattoos on his left ear, sleeves on his arms and tattoos on his legs, chest and back.

Police are asking anyone with information on his whereabouts to call 911.
