I work in a senior living facility in Vancouver and I am very proud of the way that our management and staff are taking care of our most vulnerable residents, not only caring for their physical health with serious social distancing, but also their emotional health with lots of televised activities, and even bands performing outside so that residents can enjoy live music from their apartment windows and balconies. Employee temperatures and health are checked prior to starting each shift, we wear masks, and all of our wonderful residents have been understanding and accepting about social distancing and having no family visits.
What I don’t understand is why the traffic in the city of Vancouver has not changed at all since the stay-at-home directive has been enacted. I work four days a week and shop once, or maybe twice if absolutely necessary. But, with the exception of school buses, the traffic volume seems to be the same as it always has been in town. I would really like to know where all these people are going? Is anyone really staying at home in Vancouver right now? We can beat this, but, please, if you don’t have to go out, stay home and stay safe.
