Letter: Drivers: Stay in your lane

I agree with, and would like to add to, Sara Schmit’s letter, “Public roads are for everybody” (Our Readers’ Views, April 19):

I live in Skamania County, and Highway 14 is my almost daily connection to town — and I, too, have seen a marked increase in cyclists along this and the many other winding roads in our area. Many drivers are cutting curves by crossing over the white shoulder line which is, as we all know, where cyclists generally ride. I urge drivers to stay in your lane and inside the marked boundaries of the road, particularly on blind curves. To hit a vulnerable cyclist would make for a rotten day for a whole lot of people.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
