AMR Northwest in Vancouver is accepting gently used life jackets as part of its summer drive.

The company, which provides ambulance services to most of Clark County, is asking for donations of new or used life jackets in good condition for its Life Jacket Drive, according to an AMR news release.

The drive was described as a tried and true method for getting the life-saving equipment from donors into the hands of county programs and community organizations that distribute them.

The life jackets are “for families who are unable to purchase new life jackets, which may be yearly as their child grows,” the company said.

All life jackets will be sanitized before being distributed, AMR said.

Officials say children should be under direct supervision and wear life jackets when in or near all bodies of water, including rivers, lakes and ponds, as well as backyard pools and spas.

Donated life jackets can be dropped off at AMR’s Clark County office, 409 N.E. 76th St., in Hazel Dell. People should enter the front office and leave the jackets there.
