I don’t know what bothers me more:
(1) That Donald Trump thinks it is appropriate to send armed border patrol and other homeland security forces against American citizens because he doesn’t like their political beliefs (why Portland and Chicago but not Miami?);
(2) That he will probably get away with it legally because no one who wrote the laws establishing these agencies foresaw the need to stipulate that the forces should not be used against American citizens to deprive them of their constitutional rights; or
(3) That a significant portion of the U.S. population, apparently, not only does not find these action appalling, and in fact, supports them.
