Letter: Citizenship takes many forms

By Ed Givens, Vancouver
Published: August 19, 2020, 6:00am

Does being the offspring of a first-generation Italian-German mother, born somewhere in North Dakota, and a father born in a tent in the Owyhee County wilderness of southern Idaho, and myself being born in Vancouver’s Memorial Hospital in 1949, make me a U.S. citizen? I am curious because I understand Donald Trump is somewhat of an expert in the area of citizenship requirements, and I really want my vote to count.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
