Woodland elementary students to resume hybrid schedule Jan. 5

Woodland Public Schools announced it will return its elementary students to an in-person hybrid schedule starting Jan. 5.

The district made the decision based on the state making revisions on school opening guidelines. New state guidance says counties with the highest COVID-19 rate — 350 cases per 100,000 over a two-week period, should phase in in-person learning by limiting groups to 15 students. Since the district serves two counties, it follows metrics released by Clark County Public Health and Cowlitz County Public Health.

Students at Columbia, North Fork and Yale elementary schools first went into a hybrid in-person schedule in October, but rising case numbers and positivity rates led to students reverting back to remote learning last month.
