Girls basketball: King’s Way Christian 44, La Center 34

Laurel Quinn scored 19 points, Abby Cummins added 13 and the Knights handed La Center its first Trico League loss in the regular season finale.

King’s Way (10-8, 8-2) took a 27-18 lead by outscoring La Center 13-3 in the third quarter.

After wrapping up the league title Wednesday, La Center (13-7, 9-1) couldn’t find a spark.

“We couldn’t hit a shot,” La Center coach Herm VanWeerdhuizen said. “We just came out flat. We had the shots, we just couldn’t hit them.”

Alyse Webberley scored 13 points and Kylie Stephens added 12 for La Center, which begins district tournament play at home Feb. 15 after a first-round bye.

No. 2 seed King’s Way will host Evergreen Conference No. 3 seed Tenino in the first round on Feb. 13.
